3D print Gary's helmet from Final Space!
The Helmet has an round opening with a diameter of about 23.75cm. Depending on your head size you may need to scale accordingly.
* if rescaling the models , please make sure all pieces are scaled uniformly. *
What's included:
- .OBJ's and .STL's of all of the print files.
- assembly instruction file.
- ***FORMED LENS NOT INCLUDED. THIS IS ONLY THE 3D PRINTFILE.***
We printed our helmet in ABS. This will make the fine details much easier to sand, and acetone welding it together makes it super strong. It can also be printed in PLA and glued together using any type of CA super glue.
When making the buck for vacuum forming, there are multiple effective methods we have used in the past.
- Moulding and casting the buck in a high heat resistant material such as ultracal or hydracal (Most effective method). Make sure the buck is sanded and smoothed before
- Printing the buck in a high heat resistant filament such as ABS, ASA, or NYLON, then coated in a heat resistant spray paint. When printing the buck make sure there are multiple wall and top layers to avoid warping when vacuum forming.
When vacuum forming the lens using the lens_buck, we used 1mm PETG.
* files are compressed using .rar, which can be extracted by winrar, winzip, and 7zip.*
* please note that different 3D slicing programs (Cura, simplify3D etc...) may have different units set as default. Our files are exported in CM, so if your slicing program is set to MM, you will have to SCALE UP the prints by a factor of 10. *
